Inde: adoption et trafic d'enfants

Même les pays avec de grandes populations, comme l'Inde, ont rarement des nourrissons ou des tout-petits en santé qui ont besoin de parents étrangers. La grande classe moyenne en expansion de l'Inde, dans le pays même et dans la diaspora, font face aux problèmes d’infertilité comme ceux de leurs homologues dans les pays développés. Eux aussi sont à la recherche de bébés en santé à adopter; certains experts pensent que ces millions de familles de classe moyenne pourraient facilement absorber tous les bébés disponibles. Le trafic d'enfants en Inde est florissant comme dans tout pays source d'enfants pour l'adoption internationale, mais les couples indiens sans enfant sont aussi à la recherche d'enfants.

Résultat: d'autres trafiqueurs vendent des enfants aux riches couples (indiens) sans enfant.

CHENNAI: Investigations into the child trafficking racket that was busted recently following the arrest of a woman in Tiruchi has revealed that child lifters had links with low-level employees of General Hospitals in the small towns of Tamil Nadu.

It has also been found out that a network of eight procurers had supplied to Rajan, who runs a children’s home in Valliyoor in Tirunelveli district, 17 children, nine of them girls, from places like Alangudi, Udayathur, Tenkasi, Manavalakurichi, Ervadi, Kalakkadu, Nagercoil, Sudanthiram, Valliyur and Velliyavalai.

All the children were sold to affluent couple, who are unable to have their own, through Rajan’s children’s home, Anbu Illam, that paid commission amounts ranging from Rs 2000 to 5000 for a baby, either lifted from hospital or bought for a low prices from poor parents.

Some of them were rescued later.

Children’s home in Nellai under scanner

TIRUNELVELI: Anbu Children’s Home at Valliyoor woke up to a surprise on Tuesday when special police teams from Tiru­chy and Tirunelveli district zeroed in following a complaint of child trafficking.

This move came in the backdrop of the arrest of a 46-year-old woman Dhanamani from Avinasi, who attempted to kidnap a girl child at the Tiruchy GH. Investigation revealed that she was a part of a state-wide network.
